| Ray had been to many a circus in his time. Big ones, small ones, even one with a fleet of trained ponies that formed the show's logo in the center ring, but never one quite like the Berry Bid Circus. But, he thought as he stood just inside the entrance, he usually only went to circuses at or around show time.
He had never been to a circus when it was quiet and empty. It didn't hold the same kind of excitement, but he still felt a kind of buzzing energy about the place, as though the potential they had there was alive.
He made a note to himself to come by when he wasn't checking out some nonsense cover story for a case. But, hey, as long as he was there, may as well try to enjoy himself a little bit.
What had his client said? He was scared shitless and ran around the big top to try and get away from the police? Ray set off towards the tent with a sigh. Leave it to some larceny-loving knucklehead to find a way to make him have to work at a circus... |
